The Radiological and Environmental Sciences Laboratory (RESL) is a federally-owned and operated laboratory by the Department of Energy (DOE). It is a critical resource for the DOE, the Office of Environmental Management (EM) and the Office of Environmental Safety & Health (EH). The laboratory's focus is primarily in analytical chemistry, radiation protection, and as a reference laboratory for numerous Performance Evaluation (PE) Programs. RESL provides technical support and quality assurance metrology, which is directly traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). |
RESL staff consists of professional chemists, physicists (including health physicists), engineers, computer programmers, and related technicians. The staff has academic training to the doctorate level. Individual staff members participate in professional society activities, in working groups and committees, such as American Standards for Testing of Materials (ASTM), International Standards Organization (ISO) and American National Standard Institute (ANSI) committees, and on editorial and accreditation boards.
